Consumer rights protection for buisness

Consumer protection for business is the practice of protecting suppliers and buyers of goods and services from unfair practices in the marketplace.

Consumer protection measures are aimed to prevent businesses from engaging in fraud or certain unfair practices in order to gain an advantage over competitors or mislead consumers.

According to art. 35 of Law No. 105/2003 on consumer protection

  • item (2) The central specialized body of public administration responsible for developing state policy in the field of consumer protection is the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization
  • item (3) The State Inspectorate for the Supervision of Non-Food Products and Consumer Protection is the administrative authority that coordinates at national level the control of compliance with the legislation on consumer protection, having the status of national contact point.

According to art. 8 Government Decision no. 466/2022 on the organization and functioning of the State Inspectorate for the Supervision of Non-Food Products and Consumer Protection,

The Inspectorate performs the functions established by this Regulation in the following areas of activity:

1) market surveillance of non-food products;

2) conformity of services (including tourism);

3) consumer protection;

4) metrology and pre-packaged products;

5) state supervision and control of gambling activities;

6) compliance with licensing conditions according to the area of competence.
