Inheritance law regulates the transfer of property, rights, and obligations (including debts) from a deceased person (the testator) to other persons.
Inheritance in Moldova is regulated by Book IV Inheritance of the Civil Code.
To claim property rights, the heir must submit an application to a notary (in person or through an authorized representative) within 12 months from the date of opening of the inheritance (the death of the testator).
The process is carried out either strictly according to the law (in the absence of a testament) or according to a testament.
For details, see Testament and Inheritance.
